Early in
1978, several Town leaders met to discuss a way to bring the citizenry
together. They agreed that publishing a Town newsletter would do just
that! The result was the "birth" of The Hampton Gazette. Published
continuously since April, 1978, it is still being delivered to each
Hampton household every month, except January.
The Gazette
is now a primary source of town information, including municipal
announcements, civic and social events, stories about Hampton residents,
and other interesting and heart warming stories about our town.
While
delivered free of charge to each town household, donations are always
welcome and every town resident is invited to attend the "Gazette Gala,"
an annual fund raiser for the paper. Watch for the announcement/invitation
to this event, usually held in the fall.
You will find
bound and indexed back issues of the Gazette in the reference room at
the Fletcher Memorial Library on Main St. Take
a look .....You will be reminded of - or introduced to - Hampton's
delightful past 3 decades.
