Voting

Votes are always cast at the Town Hall. Referendum and primary voting is specifically scheduled. General elections are always held on the 1st Tuesday after the 1st Monday in November.

Referenda and general elections are noticed on the Town Bulletin Board outside Town Hall, on the Public Bulletin Board inside Town Hall and, if timing works out, in the Hampton Gazette and the Willimantic Chronicle. On the day of an election or referendum, "VOTE TODAY" signs are placed at Town Hall and various other strategic locations around town.

Absentee ballots may be obtained from the Town Clerk in person or by submitting an Absentee Ballot Application via fax. (see link below for form).

Note: If the absentee ballot is for a referendum where less than 3 weeks notice was given, absentee ballots may only be obtained by going, in person, to the Town Clerk. If you are unable to get to the Town Clerk in person, you may send a designee. The designee may be a licensed physician, registered or practical nurse or any other person who is caring for the applicant because of the applicant's illness, a member of the applicant's family or a police officer, registrar of voters or deputy registrar of voters in the municipality in which the applicant resides. The designee may also return the ballot in person to the municipal clerk not later than the close of the polls.

To be counted, absentee ballots must be received by "close of polls" on the day of the election or referendum.
