About the Program
Begun in 1974, the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program is one of the oldest programs in Housing and Urban Development (HUD). HUD provides the State of Connecticut with CDBG funds to distribute to small and mid-sized communities with grants on an annual basis. These grants support revitalizing neighborhoods, expanding affordable housing and economic opportunities, and/or improving community facilities and services.

Hampton has received several CDBG grants since the mid-1990s and operates the housing rehabilitation program, which is available to residents in Chaplin, Eastford, Hampton, Pomfret, and Scotland. During this time the Program has helped more than 100 households make repairs to their homes This is a great way to have needed repairs made today, protecting your investment for tomorrow.

Eligibility for this program is based on total household income, adjusted for household size. Certain other requirements also apply. Assistance is provided to eligible property owners on a non-discriminatory basis.
