____________________________
Begun in 1974, the Community Development
Block Grant (CDBG) is one of the oldest programs in HUD.
The State
Community Development Block Grant (Small Cities) provides
Connecticut with annual direct grants, which they in turn award to
smaller communities and rural areas for use in revitalizing
neighborhoods, expanding affordable housing and economic opportunities,
and/or improving community facilities and services.
The Small Cities grant is a Housing
Rehabilitation Program that is available to residents in Chaplin,
Eastford, Hampton, Pomfret, and Scotland. Assistance from the Program
has helped nearly 90 households since 1994. We work with homeowners to
address safety and maintenance issues and we monitor the work through
completion of construction. Funds for this work are provided by the
Hampton Regional Housing Rehabilitation Program through a zero (0)
interest deferred payment loan. Loans are repaid when the property is
sold, mortgaged, or transferred. This is a great way to have needed
repairs made today, protecting your investment for tomorrow.
Eligibility for this program is based on
household size and total household income.
